What the P0255 code means

The powertrain control module has found an issue with the signal voltage that is being supplied to the electronic fuel control actuator and the signal that’s being returned from the fuel metering control sensor. Only diesel vehicles will experience this code. If the code happens to show up in a vehicle that is not diesel, then the problem is a defective powertrain control module in most cases. In those instances, it shouldn’t affect the performance of the vehicle. On diesels though, the code could indicate some larger problems.
