What is the Valve Cover all about?

Valve Cover \u2013 also called a rocker cover \u2013 is a vital component of the engine; it\u2019s a plastic or metal component that is bolted to the top of the cylinder head. The gap between the valve cover and the cylinder head is sealed by a valve cover gasket. The whole setup keeps oil inside the engine, which is important to the engine\u2019s overall health and performance.

\n- The majority of today's valve cover gaskets and seals last up to 60,000 miles provided that oil changes aren't delayed.

How it's done:

\n- Open the hood and take off the engine cover.
\n- Remove valve cover bolts.
\n- Check your manual's recommended torque sequence.
\n- Part of the valve cover can be sealed by silicone RTV; if so remove silicone RTV entirely.
\n- Perform this procedure backwards.
\n- Finish the repair with a test drive and check your oil dipstick to ensure appropriate oil level.
