A Buyer’s Guide to the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro

The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro is an exciting car that says a lot about American drivers and what we want. While fuel prices are high and the economy is just barely starting to resurge and stabilize after years of recession, we still love our American muscle cars, especially the Camaro. It may not have the best fuel economy, and it may not be the most practical car on the road, but who cares? It’s a car enthusiast’s dream, and you can use it as an everyday vehicle, too.

Key Features

Honestly, the most outstanding feature of all on the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro is its exterior design. It’s reminiscent of the early Camaros of the ‘60s, but it manages to maintain that classic look without looking old or outdated. Other features include its incredibly responsive suspension, six-way adjustable driver and front passenger seats, and surprisingly large cargo capacity (11.3 cubic feet).

Changes for 2012

Chevrolet knew what its customers wanted in 2012 when they added an impressive 11 additional horsepower to the engine. Plus, in 2012, you could get the 45th anniversary package with 20” wheels, hood and deck stripes, and special interior trim, as well.

What We Like

We love that the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro doesn’t compromise on power or torque. It’s high-performing sports car that harkens back to the original American muscle cars.

What Concerns Us

While the exterior is gorgeous, and the car handles like a dream, the interior of the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro leaves something to be desired. Frankly, it looks and feels kind of cheap in comparison with everything else about this model.

Available Models

You have your choice of three engines with the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro – a 3.6-liter V6 with 323 horsepower, a 6.2-liter V8 (L99) with 400 horsepower, and a 6.2-liter V8 (LS3) with 426 horsepower. If you want all-out power, go with the LS3, but if you want to save at least a little bit of money on gas, the V6 is a great option (rated at 30 MPG on the highway with the automatic 2LS transmission).

Major Recalls

Some 2012 Chevrolet Camaro models have been recalled due to knee contact with the ignition switch turning it to the off position, driver-side frontal airbags failing to deploy, and a seat height adjuster bolt that could fall out.

Common Issues

The most common problems owners have reported with the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro have to do with engine troubles, including shuddering, lack of acceleration, and engine failure.

Chevrolet Impala V6-3.6L - Pre-purchase Car Inspection - Lansdale, Pennsylvania
Shawn was prompt, professional, and delivered the promised service as expected. This was a used vehicle pre-purchase inspection. Shawn also had to drive to multiple locations to perform the inspection, as the address listed that I provided him with was not accurate, but he still made it to the correct location within his time window and completed the inspection.

Shawn was very prompt in communicating with me and was good at helping me decide whether to purchase a used car. He help me avoid a car with a repaired rusted frame that could be a danger to my family's safety since we were planning on using the car to tow a travel trailer!

He did a pre-purchase inspection for me. He was knowledgeable and fast, and knew what he was looking for. I really appreciate all the pictures and documentation he took of the state of the car before purchase. He noted potential issues with the car that I wouldn't have been able to notice. Would recommend.

I trust Robert. He gave me a list and we will take care of it the week of June 29. I will know then that my vehicle is ready for the winter and is safe to drive. I look forward to getting things ready for another winter of careful driving.
