What is the Oil Pressure Sensor all about?

Oil is vital for your engine \u2013 you need enough oil to lubricate and reduce friction throughout the engine. There\u2019s no way to visually determine how much oil is being pumped through your engine, so your car\u2019s computer relies on the oil pressure sensor to determine the flow.The oil pressure sensor is a basic electrical switch that provides information to the instrument cluster\u2019s oil pressure gauge with the accurate real-time pressure. When the pressure is too low, not enough oil is being pumped through the engine to lubricate and cool components. When pressure drops below a threshold set by the automaker, the engine oil light on the car\u2019s dashboard illuminates, warning you that driving could be dangerous.
