Hi there, The Honda VTEC system relies on two main electrical components to function properly. One of these components is the VTEC oil pressure switch which tells the engine computer that the oil pressure is sufficient for VTEC operation. The other component is the VTEC solenoid which engages the VTEC system. To diagnose the system you may want to enlist the help of a mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will have the necessary scan tool to be able to read the fault memory of your engine computer. This will save you time and lead the diagnosis to the proper component or components to be tested.
