There is only one thing to do when you see an oil light on: stop driving.

Motor oil is what keeps your engine\u2019s valves, pistons and rods in good working order. Without that oil, your car can quickly turn into a several thousand pound paperweight with a large list of repairs attached to it. So when you see that light, pull off to the side. Stop driving, take your key out of the ignition, and then book a mechanic to properly diagnose the issue.

Especially on older vehicles, oil pumps can gradually wear out which will result in a lack of oil pressure. This loss of oil pressure usually happens when a vehicle is idling or at a stop light.
